A letter from an emotionally exhausted donor

Dear Charity,

Thank you for the work that you do. I have supported you for the last five years, and over that time have grown to learn about your cause. I have learnt that there is always an ever- pressing, urgent need for assistance. 

But, I am emotionally exhausted. I’ve come to a point in my life where I am making a change in the way I give to charity. I am literally drowning in options and seeing a growing need everywhere I turn. 

I have conducted an audit of the charities I give to, and it turns out only 5% of the money I give away is to causes I really care about. Most of my donations are to charities, like yourself, that, to be frank, guilt trip me into giving. 

I don’t need you to be perfect. I want you to show me how you are focused on delivering on your mission. I want to know you have nothing to hide.…
