A newly-added session for EventRaise will reveal the strategy Variety used to give its high-flying event a major 20th anniversary boost.

Variety will reveal how it strengthened participant engagement and boosted profits for its Jet Trak fundraising event, with the strategy to be shared with fundraising managers during a newly-added session at this year’s EventRaise conference.

The winner of the 2018 FIA Award for events (category: organisations raising less than $5 million), Variety’s Jet Trek Australia’s largest and most successful charity personal watercraft (PWC) event, taking place annually for the past 20 years.

It’s an adrenaline-packed adventure, travelling over six days along some of the most stunning coastline in Australia. Since inception, Trekkers have raised over $1.8 million for Aussie kids.

However, up until 2018, feedback from participants had been that they couldn’t see the impact of the funds they had raised for Variety.

At this year’s EventRaise conference, Christine Anderson, Head of Fundraising & Marketing at Variety – the Children’s Charity (Queensland), will explain the steps her organisation took to rectify the issue by better connecting participants to the cause.

These strategies included sharing more impact stories and directly involving participants in presenting its recipients with equipment, services and experiences.

As a result of its improved participant communications, Variety set new records for net profits (up 95% from 2017), gross profits (up 42% to $395,000) and participant numbers (up 23% from 2017).

The session will be presented at EventRaise, which is the only  conference in Australia with a dedicated focus on fundraising events.

The conference features case studies, ‘how-to’, thought leadership, practical tips and ideas and the presenters are some of the industry’s best and brightest events professionals.

Along with the Jet Trek session, the program includes material on a range of different event types such as online peer-to-peer, challenge events, community events and gala balls.
