Five tips for connecting with a corporate partner.
Corporates large and small are valuable and growing source of support for the not-for-profit sector, but who they give to – and, importantly, how they give – varies widely.
As noted in JBWere’s The Support Report released earlier this year,
“Corporates are still learning the skills they need to successfully engage and forge strong partnerships with for- purpose organisations. Complicating matters, charities are even further behind in appropriate engagement strategies.”
So, with this in mind, here’s my advice on how to get on the corporate ladder.
1. DO YOUR RESEARCH
It’s important that you conduct detailed research on the brands you may want to partner with prior to engaging with them.
It’s easy (and dangerous) to assume you understand them because you have ‘known’ them for years through their advertising or promotions. This can be especially true with big consumer brands in key sectors such as telcos, banks, airlines, etc. Specifically, find out how and where your values and focus align with those of a potential partner.
