A new ‘Donate’ button on the PetRescue website will help hundreds of animal rescue groups across Australia.

Animal lovers all over Australia will now be able to donate directly to help any rescue pet or rescue organisation they come across while browsing the PetRescue website.

The site currently has 8,644 adoptable pets from 985 rescue groups. With more than 20,000-plus visitors to the website every day, this could be a funding boon for many animal rescue organisations.

The new ‘Donate’ button on pet listings is a response to PetRescue’s 2017 members’ survey, which found that a lack of funding was the biggest single issue facing hundreds of animal rescue groups across Australia.

“When it became clear to us that funding was the overriding issue for our members, we came up with a first-of-its-kind digital solution for grassroots rescue organisations to generate direct donations from their pet listings,” says PetRescue co-founder, John Bishop.

All rescue organisations who have a PetRescue membership and are registered will the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission (ACNC) will be able to apply for the donate button to be added to all their pet listings and member profile page.

The secure and mobile-friendly third party payment platform was developed by Shout For Good.

The new initiative comes as PetRescue celebrates its 14th birthday and the milestone of over half a million listed pets adopted.

PetRescue is a national animal welfare charity with a vision of a future where every pet is safe, respected and loved. It has the nation’s largest searchable database of rescue organisations and rescue pets and delivers free pet search and adoption services to thousands of pet seekers. PetRescue also has a number of programs help thousands of rescue pets each year.
