“She has shown incredible resilience, initiative and innovation.”
Zoe Waters, Executive Director, Barwon Health Foundation
‘Never a dull moment’ could not ring truer for Zoe Waters. In July 2019, Zoe oversaw Barwon Health Foundation’s official transition into an independent charity, with the sole focus of raising funds and awareness for Barwon Health, one of the largest and most comprehensive regional health services in Australia. This change was years in the making and then, with barely a moment to stop and celebrate the significant milestone, COVID-19 struck.
As many charities feared for their survival, Zoe ploughed her energy into a robust marketing, communications and fundraising strategy that would keep staff employed, the organisation relevant, and enable the community to continue to access top quality treatment.
Under Zoe’s guidance, Barwon Health Foundation launched Victoria’s first (and Australia’s second) Coronavirus Emergency Response Fund, raising more than $1.2 million using a multi-platform approach across digital, print, radio and social media in a patient-focused campaign.
