Like so many of her peers, Laura Henry knows the lockdown juggle all too well. As well as being Head of Marketing and Fundraising for Wayside Chapel, one of Sydney’s most leaned-on charities during COVID-19, Laura has been navigating the realities of parenting young children during the 2020/21 rollercoaster. 

Balancing parenthood and nonprofit work at a senior level is something Laura thinks we need to talk about more broadly – not just in the context of the pandemic. 

Laura was on maternity leave in the early part of 2020, but as the pandemic unfolded, the Wayside Chapel experienced one of its most successful years for fundraising ever as it pivoted its services to continue helping people experiencing homelessness and social isolation. This is a credit to the flexibility and strength of a team Laura had built over 10 years.
