Jade Williamson’s role is rare. When she began her role, she was only the third person at a major Australian university to be in a position focused exclusively on fundraising for Indigenous Australian initiatives and Indigenous-led priorities.
Jade has championed fundraising for Indigenous-led initiatives and organisational change to improve access to education for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Central to this is Jade’s advocacy for the establishment of an endowed UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Scholarship scheme, and for equitable and appropriate representation for the Indigenous Engagement portfolio within the university's fundraising activities. Through this scheme, Indigenous students are eligible for multiple scholarships based on a single application, assessed by an Indigenous-led selection panel.
