In this podcast Wesa Chau, director of Cultural Intelligence, discusses the hows and whys of Asian philanthropy in Australia.

Since the migration of Chinese people to the Victorian goldfields began in the 1850s, the growth and influence of Asian communities in Australia has increased steadily.

In 2018, The Lord Mayor’s Charitable Foundation commissioned a unique research project to explore Asian-Australian Diaspora Philanthropy.

In this excerpt from a panel discussion at the 2019 Generosity Forum, Wesa Chau, Director of Cultural Intelligence and co-author of the research report, discusses its key findings, including the hows and whys of Asian philanthropy in Australia.

She is joined by three leading Asian-Australian donors to discuss their giving habits, motivations and interests.

The philanthropists are Banna Property Group CEO Brad Chen, Newman Family Foundation director Hyon-Ju Newman and Australian Chinese Charity Foundation vice chairman Benjamin Chow.
