Savin Prasad on not becoming an astronaut, Bill Gates and the philosophy that drives him.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP?
Like many children I wanted to be an astronaut or a scientist. I started scientific experiments at the age of seven and I still have a significant interest in astrophysics and technology in general.
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE NOT-FOR-PROFIT SECTOR?
After working many years as a project manager for a big bank, I decided that I needed a change of scenery and took up a role in a small marketing firm. The sheer greediness of the owners drove me to search for something much more meaningful. I eventually found a role at a charity looking after their IT department. My data analysis skills proved invaluable for the fundraising team, and I decided then that I could have a far more significant impact within fundraising and marketing. I switched to fundraising and have not looked back since.
