The national charity regulator, the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), has revoked the registration of 109 charities for failing to submit reports for two years.
These organisations will now lose access to the Commonwealth tax concessions.
In late May, the ACNC warned 118 charities that they risked revocation, however only nine charities submitted their outstanding Annual Information Statement.
ACNC Commissioner, Susan Pascoe AM, said the charities had failed to complete two years of reporting and were likely inactive: “We are continuously reviewing the information charities provide as part of their annual reporting, and we will revoke the charity status of those who fail to report…We do this to ensure that only charities that are meeting their obligations under the ACNC Act maintain their registration status.”
The Notice of Revocation, and the list of registered charities that have been revoked, are available online at acnc.gov.au/doubledefaulters.
