Karen Kennedy leveraged her skills and expertise from working in IT to establish a more meaningful career in fundraising, now as Foodbank Australia General Manager Partnerships & Marketing.
WHAT DID YOU WANT TO DO WHEN YOU GREW UP?
I really loved sport when I was young and was the captain of our school hockey team. So through some of junior school and most of high school, I actually wanted to be a PE teacher.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR CURRENT ROLE?
Foodbank has traditionally been best known as very good ‘foodraisers’ for many years, providing food to Australians in need. Recently, we’ve realised that in addition to foodraising, to meet that ongoing need and gap we’re going to have to really step up our game in terms of fundraising, and also drive brand and create awareness, so that’s where my role comes in.
